How many ethnic groups on earth have demanded their own exclusive ethnic state?
Q. I can't think of a single country other than Nazi Germany; it had the same concept. Citizenship involved being at least one-fourth ethnic German; all citizens not ethnically German were denaturalized and any ethnic German from around the world had a "right" to go to Germany and claim his alleged citizenship. Same exact set-up. Why do jews think they are entitled to an exclusively "jewish" state? Why don't other ethnic groups? What other countries regard national identity and ethnic identity as one and the same?

A. Germans for a period of twelve years before the middle of the last century. There is a difference between a modern state which has no linkage between ethnicity and citizenship and a Tribal State which is based on ethnicity. Israel,so-called,is the only Tribal State on earth. As to that Sabre comment or answer or whatever it was supposed to be,Iran is not an ethnic state, nor is Saudi Arabia. They do discriminate in terms of religion, but not ethnicity. Muslims from around the world are welcome in both countries. You do not have to be an ethnic Persion in the one case or an ethnic Arab in the other. I gather some people don't know the difference between ethnicity and religion. Most Jews are atheists; they don't have any religion. Israel was… [cont.]

How is ethnic cleansing defined and would it apply to the Israeli government?
Q. I just finished reading Itan Pappe's "Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine". He is a professor at a college in Israel. What is your opinion?
Asked by Bahira - Tue Apr 8 17:19:47 2008 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Yes. Continuously, since their arrival in the 1920's. The first efforts involved displacement by buying the land out from under them from absentee landlords. I am familiar with the book you cite and he does a thorough job of documenting the cleansing of 1947-48,including using hand grenades and flame throwers on ordinary home, all kinds of nice thinks. Poisoning Haifa's water supply with typhus was no doubt viewed as particularly heroic. The process has merely accelerated since then. By the way,the zionist line is that ethnic cleansing consists only of mass murder, not forced expulsion. The term - you can wiki it up - actually encompasses any and all measures used to secure the removal of a group based on their ethnicity.

One of which is: what are the predominant ethnic and religious groups in China? What is China's literacy rate? And what is their Educatin Policy? If you get your information from a website please provide a link. All help is appreciated, thanks.

What is the difference between the terms genocide and ethnic cleansing? Why does that difference exist?
Q. The U.N. takes its time to consider something a genocide, like what they did in Darfur's case. Ethnic cleansing is not defined as a punishable act in international laws, so does calling something ethnic cleansing relieve pressure on the U.N. and allow them to turn the other cheek?
Asked by camizzle - Thu Mar 15 23:23:36 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Ethnic cleansing is the forcible removal of an ethnic group from a specified area. Genocide is the mass murder of people of a specific ethnicity. While you can certainly make arguments against the former, I think you will agree that the latter is far worse.

Asked by zekria.rezaye - Fri Oct 23 18:33:04 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Neighborhoods are always in a state of flux. Imagine what the suburbs were like before they were suburbs, or what the city was like before it was fashionable to live in it? The suburbs character is shaped by the people who live in it. If a suburb is populated today by all asian people who keep a minimalist yard, and in 10 years is all white people who love crazy yard furniture no one can stop that. No one should stop that, it's just the evolution of the environment.

What ethnic groups tend to have dominant genes when determining physical features of your children?
Q. I have heard that asian genes tend to be dominant when there are bi-racial parents and was just wondering if there were any other ethnic groups or races that tend to have dominant genes when determining the physical features of kids of bi-racial parents?
Asked by Gottaask - Mon Dec 8 21:50:06 2008 - - 3 Answers - 2 Comments

A. I don't think it has to do with the ethnicity... But dark hair is a dominant gene, and light hair is recessive. Brown and green eyes are dominant, the others are recessive -although you see combinations of eye colors. Curly hair is dominant, straight is recessive. If a caucasian person marries a person of ethnicity, that child will have darker skin than their caucasian parent, but lighter skin than their "ethnic" parent. If a full-blooded latino with curly hair were to marry a blond haired, blue eyed girl, for example, ALL of their kids would have dark, curly hair, and brown eyes. But they would all be lighter than their dad.

Is there significant ethnic or racial segregation in Singapore?
Q. Do the people of various ethnicities (Chinese, Malay or Indians) mix very freely with one another, or do they tend to keep to their own ethnicity and rarely mix with people of a diffferent ethnic background? A friend of mine visits the US regularly & she tells me that there is very evident segregation in America. Since I am planning to come to Singapore for my undergrad studies, I am curious to know if it is the same case in Singapore too.

A. Singapore is still a young country, but racial integration has come to a fair degree of success. There will always be some individuals who do not like to mix with others of a different ethnic background, but there is no visible sign of racial segregation. There is Chinatown, Geylang Serai and Little India that represent the 3 ethnic groups, but they are widely visited by everyone. At local food centres, we also enjoy various ethnic food. (Malays can eat other foods but need to adhere to religious restrictions). In local schools, the younger generation study and play together. You might find it of interest that the Singapore government imposes a ethnic ratio for public housing to avoid segregation. For example, if a Malay flat owner is… [cont.]

How important is one's specific ethnic group in Africa?
Q. There are over 1000 different ethnic groups in Africa, from my understanding. Does everyone in Africa identify with one of these ethnic groups? Or do some just identify themselves by their country or region? The ethnic groups have languages unique to their group, but can they also speak a common language which allows them to communicate with people outside of their particular ethnic group? Which is more important to an African - their country affiliation or their ethnic group? How separate and distinct are the groups? If you could give me a good overall picture of how the groups interact and function, that'd be great. Thanks!

A. I doubt it's possible to eliminate it. No matter what we do or how hard we try discrimination will always exist. It's sad and shocking but that's the truth. People will always be judged on the basis of their skin color, ethnicity etc.
