The Snow Queen (Danish: Sneedronningen) is a fairy tale by author Hans Christian Andersen (1805–1875). The tale was first published in 1845, and centers on the struggle between good and evil as experienced by a little boy and girl, Kaj and Gerda. The story is one of Andersen's longest and is considered by scholars, critics, and readers alike as one of his best. It is regularly included in selected tales and collections of his work as well as being frequently reprinted in illustrated storybook editions for children. It is probably from the 80s or earlier, it's not animated. A brother and sister are playing outside there house and the snow queen breaks a mirror and a shard gets into the boy's eye and he becomes very mean. The snow queen is actually a personification of Winter. As such she is not evil but can be dangerous without knowing it. As with each season, it can only understand itself and what lives in that particular season. She does indeed have no mercy for things or beings that cannot exist in her realm, but more because of the fact she doesn't understand what is outside her realm, not because she is evil. It is the sad faith of the snow queen to be part of a perpetual circle of death and rebirth. She is killed each year by Summer, but reborn again in the fall. Because of this she is also lonely. Q. There was a movie maybe 3 or 4 years ago. It was kind of like the Snow Queen, a man works in a lodge but the building is magically frozen where he is trapped. He is trapped in an alternate dimension of the house with Snow Queen while he is rebuilding a magic mirror that shattered. What he doesn't know is that a piece of the mirror is lodged in his heart and the only way to get it out is for the Queen to kiss him three times.
