How can you tell if a Filipino is Chinese, Japanese, or etc.? Are their traditions different from our culture?
Q. I know that filipinas have chinese blood, spainish blood, or etc. How can you tell if they look chinese, spainsh, japanese, or etc.? Don't chinese filipino celebrate chinese new year in the philippines? If you know what I mean if you watched the filipino movie Mano Po movie series.

A. I'm half filipino, my mother is mixed with spanish, chinese and filipino but raised her whole if in the Philippines. I came to the United States at the age of 9. (my father was from Chicago in the Navy) I'd have to say it's sometimes rather hard to identify the differences with filipinos. You really can't be definite unless you ask. Filipino traditions are definitely different than China and Japan. Filipinos are actually considered Pacific Islanders and are not actually Asian. As for the jungle people comment, it's actually funny but it's wrong to stereotype filipino's to take home coffee and/or toilet paper. What are a few Filipino dishes can a beginning Filipino cool?
Q. Im a Filipino girl and I have never cooked a complete Filipino meal in my life.Sure I help my mom and dad in the kitchen but I wanna be the one to cook.The problem here is that I don't know how to cook! Are there any recipes out there that I can start out with?

A. check out those two websites. the good thing is that you are filipina and you been in the kitchen before cooking with your parents so you'll probably have the heart and soul needed to prepare the dishes. you pretty much know how things are supposed to smell and taste so when you're cooking you'll have an easier time knowing if you're doing it right. **edit** oh and pansit and adobo are easy to cook for beginners..=]

Does a Filipino citizen with a US green card need a visa to travel to Jamaica from the US?
Q. My nanny is a Filipino citizen with a US Green Card. She's coming to Jamaica with us for a 1 week vacation, and the embassies haven't been helpful with telling me whether she needs a Visa. Please help. Thanks!
