What is African time and why different from other times?
Q. I ve seen and heard many people Black people to be specific - using African time as an excuse for being late for meetings etc ..Is it really true that Africans are not time conscious?...does it mean that those Africans who are not living by African time have abandoned their roots? If you are Black (African) how much do you use your African time to hide your disregard for time?

A. What a cop out! Thats no excuse for being late! And if black ppl have started using it amongst themselves, would that not entrench this belief that it is acceptable to be late, as long as your black? Its almost Orwellian; you whites can have your time; and we can have ours - what rubbish! I dont believe that all Africans subscribe to African time; there must be at least one out there who is timeous (or even arrives at their meetings 5 min early - gasp!). This is stereotyping at its basic, and wats sad is that its gaining acceptance amongst those whom it stereotypes agaisnt.
