THIS IS THE LIFE DVD p Winner! Best Documentary Audience Award Pan-African Film Festival 2008 /p p Winner! Audience Award, Documentary ReelWorld Film Festival 2008 /p p Winner! Audience Award, First Place /p p Langston Hughes African-American Film Festival 2008 /p p In 1989, a collective of young artists gathered weekly at a small health food store in South Central LA called 'The Good Life. Their mandate? To explore and expand the musical boundaries of hip hop. /p p THIS IS THE LIFE tells the little known story of a group of teenagers, who revolutionized hip hop by innovating the very rhyme patterns, melodic concepts and lyrical styles used by many of today's biggest rap stars. /p p While their innovations have yielded billions of dollars for the recording industry, the Good Life emcees have toiled in relative obscurity in the United States. But much like their jazz heroes of a bygone era, these street poets have garnered a rabid and musically sophisticated fan base abroad, with a cult-like following in Germany, Australia, France, England and Japan. /p p This feature-length documentary, directed by former Good Life emcee Ava DuVernay, chronicles the rise and fall of an unusual family of artists, while examining their obstacles to commercial success. They all took different paths, but remain connected by the music they made, the alternative hip hop movement they developed, and their worldwide influence on the art form. /p p Also includes more than 65 minutes of special features and bonus footage that you can only see on the DVD!!! So get your copy now!! /p object width='425' height='344' param name='movie' value='http://www.youtube.com/v/WTNrb3Bln9A hl=en fs=1' /param param name='allowFullScreen' value='true' /param param name='allowscriptaccess' value='always' /param embed src='http://www.youtube.com/v/WTNrb3Bln9A hl=en fs=1' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' allowscriptaccess='always' allowfullscreen='true' width='425' |

Why are african american men often suseptible to skin conditions on the back of their heads?
Q. I work in downtown Chicago and meet alot of people everyday. I see many people, including african americans and I notice that there seems to be a significant amount of black men that have skin conditions on the back of their heads, mostly above the neck area. It is either a discoloration, boils, scarring, or lesions. Is there a reason I see this alot with african american men and not in other races? im not racist; this is a legitamate question. i never see it so much with other races. Im just curious.

Now combine all of this together and this what you have. Most African American males use some type of oil in their hair to make it look nice. What this also does in the process is close the pores on the scalp and around the neck area so now the scalp can not breathe and some of the hair follicles are now trapped under the skin. The next process is the cutting of the hair. This will make the… [cont.]
