A Series of Unfortunate Events is a series of children's novels (or novellas) by Lemony Snicket (the nom de plume of American author Daniel Handler) which follows the turbulent lives of Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire after their parents' death in an arsonous house fire. The children are placed in the custody of their distant cousin Count Olaf, who begins to abuse them and openly plots to embezzle their inheritance. After the Baudelaires are removed from his care by their parents' estate executor, Arthur Poe, Olaf begins to doggedly hunt the children down, bringing about the serial slaughter and holocaust of a multitude of characters. The entire series is actively narrated by Snicket, who makes numerous references to his mysterious, deceased love interest, Beatrice. Both Snicket and Beatrice play roles in the story along with Snicket's family members, all of whom are part of an overarching conspiracy known to the children only as "V.F.D." Since the release of the first novel, The Bad Beginning, in September 1999, the books have gained significant popularity, critical acclaim, and commercial success worldwide, spawning a film, video game, and assorted merchandise. The thirteen books in the series (or "tridecalogy") have collectively sold more than 60 million copies and have been translated into 41 languages. From Wikipedia under the

I can't decide which I should buy, and read first, Sorcerer's Stone or Lemony Snicket's first book of the series. p.s. state which is better if you want to write for children?and which of them is richer in language and expression? I am turning 19 in a few months by the way, so I'm not just searching for the more fun or the easiest to read. Asked by mariamofcairo - Tue Apr 10 12:23:39 2007 - - 15 Answers - 0 Comments A. Having read some of both series, I would say that they are both delightful stories! The reading level of the Harry Potter books starts fairly comparable but rises sharply round-about book four. I love the fact that A Series of Unfortunate Events is full of asides in which the author explains the hard words. I suppose it depends on what you're looking for. Lemony Snicket points out at every turn that his is a very SAD story in which nothing goes right for the children, whereas Harry Potter is epic fantasy, which means the good guys are ultimately going to win. However, in both series, people die. Good people. People that you like/love. read them both, DARNIT!!! Q. I heard that these books were pretty good and I bought all of them at once. I had to literally force myself to read them, as I was just done with the whole story after book number 5. I was able to read through book 8, but after that I decided not to continue because it was getting on my nerves. So, if you made it through the series what happened at the very end. How does he die? Asked by BlueFaith25 - Thu Feb 5 15:31:50 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. It was a good series, some books were better than others. But I'll tell you how it ends Oloff or however you spell his name dies. Answered by I <3 Jockeys - Thu Feb 5 17:12:33 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "A Series of Unfortunate Events" Skating (Full)
